Restore deleted files (Egnyte)

When files or folders are missing from where you expect to find them there are two common reasons: the files have been...

  1. Deleted
  2. Moved

Deleted Files & Folders

To recover files and folders that have been deleted you can search the Trash and restore the files that you deleted to their original locations. Files are kept in Trash for a maximum of 180 days - after that they cannot be recovered.

Login to the web console for your file system (available through your Onelogin portal).

Click the Trash icon in the left panel.

If there are a lot of files, us Find in Trash to narrow down the list of available files using a combination of:

  • a part of the name
  • the original containing folder
  • the likely date of deletion
  • who deleted the files (only available to administrators)

Select the files using the checkboxes and click the "Restore" link in the right panel.

Moved Files & Folders

Search

If files have been moved the easiest way to find them again is to Search for some part of the folder or file name.

  1. Login to the web console for your file system (available through your Onelogin portal).

  2. Use the Search box top-right on the Home/Recent/File pages.

Report on activity (admin)

If you cannot find the files with your own search, then you may need to run a report on recent activity in the original location of the files. The report will show where the files have been moved to, who moved them and when it happened.

Submit a ticket to request a report and let us know where the files were originally stored and the last time the files were known to be in their original location.

Egnyte Admins

If you are an administrator you can run a File Audit report.
